May 24th, 2011

Ludhiana: Students who are subjected to ragging can now lodge their complaints directly with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the city. All they need to do is to call or text their complaint at the DC’s mobile phone (no 9988113236) and the DC would take the required action after communicating the complaint to the anti-ragging committee of the concerned college.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, Rahul Tiwari, held a meeting with officials of educational institutions of city’s colleges to put a check on the growing menace of ragging. Citing Supreme Court rulings in earlier cases of ragging, the DC said the terrible practice will not be allowed.

He asked all educational institutions to take strong measures against ragging and said that action will be taken not only against guilty students but also against the concerned institution.

Assistant Commissioner J K Jain and SDM (Khanna) Indrajit Kaur Kang also took part in the meeting.
